Property of the Week 8/24/12

Hello again! Another week has gone by and it was another week of dreaming of the places I want to go. In honor of the Venice International Film Festival (known as Mostra del Cinema), I'm taking us to Venice, Italy for the week!

For Those who are unfamiliar with Venice, it is the romance capital of the world! It is set on islands connected by bridges, with the Grand Canal as its main street, and traffic moves by boats. Arrive in the morning walk around, see the beautiful art exhibits and museums and  have a romantic stroll in a gondola. The food is even romantic. You are in Italy, expect a flavorful real italian meal that your pallet will never forget. Back in your Canal View Room (which is a must have) watch the moon reflecting off of the water. Needless to say, Venice is a true destination for couples.

I've done tons of research on which property I would want to stay at. It was very hard to pick only 1 as so many of them are incredible properties. It also depends on how much money you are willing to spend. Venice is fairly an expensive destination. Getting a private motor boat from the airport, train station, or cruise port to your hotel is at least 110 Euro per person. So if you are more on the budget end of things, I do not recommend stopping in Venice.
That being said, I have decided on The Londra Palace, a 4 star boutique luxury property. This does not mean you cannot go see, eat, and play at the other hotels! It is in a great location right on the water, walking distance to St. Marks Square (2 canals over), and most importantly, won't break the bank.

I really like the decor of the hotel. Most people would like a little more Italian flare, but I'm a fan of neutral colors with some pop.
The restaurant, Do Leoni, is a classic Venetian cuisine, which also has a modern/classic decor. If you decide to be lazy or are just tired after a long day, stay at the hotel for dinner. You can dine and wine all night and only have to go upstairs! Or you can even take advantage of the outdoor terrace. Personally, I love to people watch. Whether during the day or for dinner, eating + drinking + people watching = good times.

Usually I'm a 5* hotel goer. But the service, amenities, and the reivews we get from this hotel from our clients are very close to what a 5* hotel is. I have heard and seen much worse 4* properties. You can tell that the owners are committed to up keeping this property, which in all due seriousness, is what makes a good hotel.
Other than sleeping, eating and drinking, you will do all of your activities outside of the hotel. You can take a boat to one of the neighboring islands or just stroll around St. Marks Square. What sets apart Venice from other Italian cities, is the rising sea levels that threaten it. Some people say Venice will not be there forever. I, however, have no idea, I only work in travel. But why not believe it and take your next trip there! I know it is high on my list.

Have a wonderful weekend all!
