Property of the Week 8/17-Ritz Carlton Rose Hall, Jamaica

So I've been doing some research on where to go in March of 2013. Several properties have really stood out, and quite frankly, I'm having a lot of difficulties on deciding. I really want a beach where I can sit back and relax, but where there is also room to explore. So I'm thinking the Caribbean...possibly the land of Reggae, Jamaica?

I have been to Jamaica before (via cruise ship) but I've never had the chance to explore or stay on the island for a good period of time. The Ritz-Carlton Rose Hall is on the top of my list and is only 10 minutes away from the international airport. This is a perfect destination for people that do not want to travel that far (direct flights from Houston seasonally, and NY) and want to do other things besides sit on a beach all day long (even though sipping a cocktail while listening to some Reggae music sounds very appealing). There is also an all-inclusive plan, so the food and drinks are readily available, which is also an important factor on vacation. Since it is a Ritz-Carlton, I do recommend upgrading to the all-inclusive as the food and drinks are not cheap.

Club Level Lounge

Also recommended is getting a room on the Club level. The Club level is often referred to as a hotel within a hotel. While you get treated like royalty in any room category, the club level has a dedicated concierge that attends to individual needs in a well-appointed manner. Through out the day the club lounge offers breakfast, light snacks, hors d' oeuvers, beverages, and sweets. It is a great place at the end of the evening to relax, sip on a cocktail and unwind. I stayed at the Club level in Bachelor Gulch, Colorado. Needless to say, it was amazing, and once you bite the bullet to do it once, you will never go back.

Reggae Jerk Center

What I love about Ritz-Carlton properties is that they build each hotel to the style of the destination. So this property in particular has a true Jamaican flare to it. They have 4 restaurants, one of which is at the White Witch golf course. The food ranges from Mediterannean to a true taste of Jamaica at the Reggae Jerk Center where they even have reggae entertainment.

Another huge positive about this particular hotel is the private beach. Which means, no vendors! Only the Ritz Carlton guests can access the beach and facilities.

So if you are not a beach bum, what else is there to do? For starters, there are 3 golf courses in the area. White Witch, (resort course), Cinnamon Hill Ocean Course, and Half Moon Golf Club, both of which are less than 1 mile away from the Ritz-Carlton. If you're not a golf person, there are tons of other activities, such as, ATV Tours, River Tubing, Horseback Riding, Deep Sea Fishing, Zip Lines, and more.

Basically, even just writing this I have convinced myself that I will be going here in March. I am excited to explore the island to its fullest (well attempt) and definitely play the golf courses. Playing golf right on the water is a whole different experience, especially after playing in TX for many months. I will bring plenty of golf balls, with the intention that I will lose most in the water.

Remember, post your thoughts or email me at golf@frosch.com if you want to plan your next getaway!

Enjoy your weekend!
